Sarah Tornichio

Specialist – Substitute Care & Permanency

Sarah Tornichio is a Licensed Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University and over 15 years of experience empowering youth and families. Sarah has a passion for elevating youth voice in child welfare training, prioritizing collaboration and authenticity in her work. Sarah’s career is marked by her dedication to the creation of training content that promotes safety, well-being, and positive permanency outcomes for children and youth.

In her current role as a Training Content Specialist for Ohio’s University Consortium for Child and Adult Services (OUCCAS), Sarah develops educational programs for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program with a focus on kinship, youth transitioning out of care, youth voice, and caregiver training and support. She collaborates with non-profit organizations, youth advisory boards, and state agencies to create and implement those programs, ensuring they are accessible to diverse populations. Sarah’s approach combines evidence-based practice with innovative strategies in learning design to include those with lived experience in the training process.
